Deals, Deals, Deals

Black Friday and Cyber Monday ushers in the start of the gift giving season. Enticing deals, one after the next can be spotted splashed across TV screens, newspapers, bill boards and the internet.

People literally go insane to get their hands on something they didn't even know they needed before a sale was announced.

And I get it. I too get caught up in the black friday, cyber monday madness. This year the deals were especially good. Most of my favorite stores advertised 40 - 60% off storewide sales. But, before I clicked the confirm purchase button, I pledged to and successfully stepped away from my virtual shopping cart for ten minutes and seriously contemplated what I was about to do.

Because I took this approach to shopping this go round, I was able to make better decisions and not make spur of the moment purchases that were fueled by red tags. So what did I purchase?

This decision came about because I had to carefully weigh what was more important. Based on inevitable changes in my life and the economic climate in the near future, I have to tighten my purse strings and every penny need to be properly managed.

Even though I had to pass up some great deals, I have no regrets. Life goes on and there will always be next black friday and cyber monday.

    1. Were you able to participate in the cyber monday sales? On another note, I would love to visit Singapore someday to study your educational practices. Heard you'll have some of the highest performing students in the world.

  6. Well said. It's been so tempting for me too, because most of the US sites I like deliver to New Zealand. I must admit, I've been pretty bad this pre-Christmas. So many sales going on at the moment. Need to stop!
