First Fruit

Yes! That's a papaya fruit. Can you believe the size of it? My very first one! It was harvested from a tree my mother in law planted in my back yard just under a year ago.

More Than Just a Pretty Food

  • Of course, the best way to use papaya is to eat it.  Ripe papayas are cut in half. After the seeds are scooped out the tender yellow to orange flesh may be removed with a spoon. Green, or unripe, papayas may be cooked like winter squash.
  • The skin of the ripe papaya is not edible but can be refrigerated and later used to as a face wash.
  • The fibrous bark of the Papaya Tree is used to produce ropes.
Benefits of  Papaya
Antioxidants, especially vitamins A and C, in the papaya prevent a number of health conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, aging and cancer. Vitamin A can prevent blindness and other eye problems, and ensures a healthy skin. It is an effective remedy for dry skin, pimples and acne.

The papaya helps to maintain the levels of blood glucose, thus ensuring a steady supply of glucose and high levels of energy all day.

Cool Shades

That's me rocking my sunglasses!

I absolutely hate them. Why (you may ask)? Well, because they weren't my first choice and they were  basically forced upon me. Let me explain. My son and I were browsing in a local store a few months back and he accidentally bumped into the sunglasses display and as a result, these ones fell off  and got a minor scratch on them. So... I was told I had to pay for them since my son caused damage and made them unsellable.

Aside from not being my first choice, I think this pair makes my already round features look even rounder and I also find them to be a bit oversized.
Needless to say, I've been meaning to change them for awhile now and as luck would have it, I came across a fabulous website that have a wide selection of glasses to choose from.

At GlassesUSA.com I fell in love with the ones below.

Deals, Deals, Deals

Black Friday and Cyber Monday ushers in the start of the gift giving season. Enticing deals, one after the next can be spotted splashed across TV screens, newspapers, bill boards and the internet.

People literally go insane to get their hands on something they didn't even know they needed before a sale was announced.

And I get it. I too get caught up in the black friday, cyber monday madness. This year the deals were especially good. Most of my favorite stores advertised 40 - 60% off storewide sales. But, before I clicked the confirm purchase button, I pledged to and successfully stepped away from my virtual shopping cart for ten minutes and seriously contemplated what I was about to do.

Because I took this approach to shopping this go round, I was able to make better decisions and not make spur of the moment purchases that were fueled by red tags. So what did I purchase?

This decision came about because I had to carefully weigh what was more important. Based on inevitable changes in my life and the economic climate in the near future, I have to tighten my purse strings and every penny need to be properly managed.

Even though I had to pass up some great deals, I have no regrets. Life goes on and there will always be next black friday and cyber monday.
